I have taken pictures of Jennie before.  She was an outstanding pinup model for me last year and we have also done a mini-shoot with her kids.  This time, we opted for a more rugged background.  The kids were free to be themselves completely.  Nathan was feeling affectionate with his mom that day, while little Violet was in daydream-mode.  That's what I love about photographing children: they are totally unpredictable, but still so authentically themselves.
